Who we are

A tree stump with a section of cut wood at the top and a rough bark surface at the bottom, surrounded by green plants and foliage.

Oak + Iron was born from a simple observation: homeowners deserve more than just a guy with a machine; they deserve a specialist who treats their lawn like a project site. Founded by Josh, a career engineer, our company brings a technical, data-driven approach to an industry often known for its "rough-around-the-edges" service. We named the company after the strength of the trees we respect and the durability of the tools we use. At Oak + Iron, we don't just "grind stumps"—we provide site-restoration solutions backed by engineering principles, ensuring every job is handled with safety, efficiency, and environmental integrity.

The Right Tools for the Task

We believe that professional results are only possible when you match the right technology to the specific environment. Every yard in the Triangle is different—from the tight backyard enclosures of Heritage to the expansive wooded lots of Louisburg. We don't believe in the "bigger is always better" approach that often leaves residential lawns scarred with heavy ruts.

Instead, we utilize a specialized fleet of nimble, high-torque equipment designed for precision access. Our machines are selected for their high power-to-weight ratio, allowing us to pulverize the toughest stumps while maintaining a light enough footprint to protect your turf and underground irrigation. If we wouldn't drive it across our own lawn, we won't drive it across yours.

Our Site Assessment Process

Before we ever engage a cutting wheel, we perform a total site evaluation:

  • Access Management: We utilize compact, maneuverable equipment that can pass through standard pedestrian gates, eliminating the need to remove fence panels.

  • Structural Awareness: We assess the root flare and soil density to ensure we grind to the appropriate depth without unnecessary disruption to the surrounding landscape.

  • Turf Protection: Our equipment is designed for minimal ground pressure. We treat your property with the respect of a neighbor, ensuring that the only change to your yard is the disappearance of the stump.

  • Utility Integrity: As part of our professional standard, we coordinate the identification of underground lines, blending modern safety protocols with technical precision.
